Today was a blast! We started off the morning by watching movies and eating popcorn. Santa Claus even made an appearance at our school. The students opened their gifts and played with them. We spent a lot of time in the gym flying airplanes, riding on scooters, and having fun. Thank you for a great school year so far. Happy Holidays!

Today in reading the students were given an opportunity to look over their sticky notes on the website linoit.com and compare and contrast the story elements of various books in their reading series. This group of boys are working on the reading series The Bailey School Kids. Next, each group will be writing a paragraph about how all the books in their reading series are similar to one another. These will be posted in the near future.

Reading
During reading this week we have been working on mysteries and making inferences. Each group chose a series and read books from that series. We had a sheet that we had to fill out as we were reading. When we first started we read two or three pages and made an inference on what we thought was going to happen next. On the second day we read about fifteen or twenty pages and then made an inference on what we thought would happen.
Yesterday we started to post the story elements on a website called Linoit.com. On that website there were different colored sticky notes that you could use. We used the yellow sticky note for the title, the green sticky note for the characters, the blue sticky note for the setting and the pink sticky note for the plot (problem And solution). Today we continued working on what we did yesterday. Reading is a fun subject in our classroom.

HyperBlast by Lily
HyperBlast
HyperBlast scored 5 stars out of 5. I think HyperBlast is an awesome amazing app, because it helps you know your math facts. Another reason is because it has an easy,a medium, and a hard level. My third reason I like the game is because it has a tutorial that teaches you how to play the game if you don't know how to. My last reason I like the game is because it does not have a time limit on when your fighting the Electronic robot, so you have more time to think. If you ever spot HyperBlast in the App Store and it's less then $2.00 you should install this game on your device.
Math Puppy by Devyn
Math Puppy
I would give Math Puppy 1 out of 5 stars. It is the WORST GAME EVER!!! One reason I dislike this game is because it give's you only 25 seconds to do one problem. If you have a wrong answer they cross out the smile face. You can never get this smile face back. The calculator aka not smarter machine is the worst thing ever because you don't get smarter. Another bad reason is that you have to start all over if you get three wrong answers. That's why I don't like math puppy. Never download this app.
Wings by Nathan
Wings
If I could rate wings I would rate it 5 out of 5 stars. I think that the game is so amazing. The music is so amazing. It makes you feel like you are soaring through the sky. I think that the graphics are great!!! It looks like you are soaring high in the sky. It is really easy to learn. It changes you in math. If you choose to buy wings you are in for a treat!

The Northern Lights from Sheboygan North High School came to our gym and shared their musical talents with us. The students enjoyed the holiday music they provided. One of the young singers was even a former student of Cooper Elementary School.
This Friday at 12:15 starts the Cooper Winter Sing. The students have worked hard and have some fun songs to share with you at this time. We hope to see you there.

This is the last week that our class has the opportunity to play Big Brainz. It's an interactive game that helps students with the recall of their math facts. The students have enjoyed playing this game tremendously. Please have your child practice his or her math facts over winter break. They can use the websites: xtramath and ixl. Your child should know their passwords for these websites. Also, encourage your child to read throughout the holidays. Practicing the skills we learn in class is crucial
HyperBlast
I would give HyperBlast 5 out of 5 stars. It is an amazing math app. It helps young and old kids learn their math facts in a fun way. The second reason I like it is because you can pick different levels to complete. Another reason I like it is because you can tilt the electronic device which makes it easier to move around. The fourth reason I adore HyperBlast is that as long as you are holding the shoot button it continues to shoot bullets from the bike. The last reason I like HyperBlast is that if you are playing and have to go to the bathroom or do your homework you can pause the game and you won't die. If you ever spot HyperBlast on the App Store I think you should definitely purchase it. I think HyperBlast is the finest math app ever.
Sushi Monster
I would give Sushi Monster four stars out of five stars. I think Sushi Monster is an awesome app. One reason is because the music is especially fun and does not play if you don't want it to. Another reason is because it gives you a challenge. You get a challenge because there are different levels you can go in like addition and multiplication. My third reason is because of the score. It always displays your score and it shows your score at the end of the game. Also it rates you with three stars. But I don't like it because there is no subtraction and division. I think almost all people should get Sushi Monster.
